Covid-19 or the Novel Corona Virus infection has reached pandemic proportions and has gripped the world in fear. The main reason for this is its infectivity rate. The fact is that this deadly virus can infect a person just by standing close to a source and its capability to stay on surfaces for a long period of time makes it transmittable to unsuspecting individuals.
The first case of Covid-19 in India was reported on 30th January, 2020. Since then, the country has gone through much. Lockdown, seal down, quarantine, isolation, social distancing, mandatory wearing of masks and such. This has resulted in a social, economic, political and above all a psychological crisis.
Medical personnel, as front line warriors of Corona, are battling to save people’s lives. Community health workers and officials involved in contact tracing and screening in hotspots are putting their lives at risk to prevent transmission of the virus.
With the extensive outbreak of Covid-19, the government and public health department brought in mandatory lockdown of the entire country with social distancing, quarantine and isolation of millions. These measures definitely had an impact in halting the progress of the virus in the community. But in the post-lockdown period, the case load is predicted to rise as the movement of people increases bringing along with it extensive socio-economic and political crisis.
Dr. M. D. Sachidananda Murthy Memorial Educational Trust was established in March, 2013, with Dr. Arjun Sachidanand as Chairman and Mr. Diwakar M. N. as Treasurer of the Trust. What found its roots in the Education Industry soon branched out into Health Care as well shortly after. Now, Dr. M. D. Sachidananda Murthy Memorial Educational Trust operates one Pre School and provides medical support to the poor and underprivileged population through five healthcare centers situated in Mysore, Chamarajanagar, Kushalanagar, Nanjangud and Bettadapura.
