Dr. M. D. SACHIDANANDA MURTHY MEMORIAL EDUCATIONAL TRUST

“A life of joy and happiness is possible only on the basis of knowledge and science.”
– Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan.

Dr. M. D. Sachidananda Murthy Memorial Educational Trust was established in March, 2013, with Dr. Arjun Sachidanand as Chairman and Mr. Diwakar M. N. as Treasurer of the Trust. What found its roots in the Education Industry soon branched out into Health Care as well shortly after. Now, Dr. M. D. Sachidananda Murthy Memorial Educational Trust operates one Pre School and provides medical support to the poor and underprivileged population through five healthcare centers situated in Mysore, Chamarajanagar, Kushalanagar, Nanjangud and Bettadapura.

With years of successful charitable social events to help benefit the needy and underprivileged, Dr. M. D. Sachidananda Murthy Memorial Trust is now very keen about beginning this project i.e. Sudhanand Arogya Vahini, to help combat this recent Covid-19 pandemic especially in the rural regions of our country, and also to gather essential data that may help us understand this virus more.

In 2018, the Trust went on to acquire Section 12A and Section 80G certifications under the Income Tax Act, 1962.

Section 12A: It is a registration done by an NGO/Not-for-Profit Organization to get its income exempted from Tax. All income shall not be taxable after Section 12A registration. If an organization does not get 12A Registration, income tax is payable on surplus during the year.

Section 80G: 80G Registration under Section 80G of Income Tax Act provides benefits to the donor of an NGO. The donor gets financial benefits in his taxable amount of their income.

This means that a charitable organization or trust registered under Section 12A such as Dr. M. D. Sachidananda Murthy Memorial Educational Trust, allows you to avail tax exemption on any donations made to the Trust as per Section 80G of the Income Tax Act, 1962.
