This is the story of Gulnaz Begum who has been a Grameen Koota member for the past 3 years. Few years ago she had been diagnosed with hernia at a government hospital. She had to spend a lot of money for investigations. She was operated later and discharged. She was apparently alright for 2-3 months and later had pain at the operated site. As she was financially weak she avoided seeking medical help and was managing with pain killers.
She enrolled into SAS Poorna Arogya Health Care Plan on the advice of Grameen Koota through which she could avail cashless treatment in Dr. M. D. Sachidananda Murthy Memorial Hospital and many other networked hospitals in Karnataka. On examination, it was found that there was a mass at the operated site. She refused surgery, but on assurance from the hospital staff that the surgery would be cashless she agreed to be operated. It was found that a cotton swab was left inside the abdomen out of negligence in the previous surgery. The cotton swab was removed during the repair of hernia.
Gulnaz begum describes the experience in the hospital in her own words. “Now I am fine and very happy. All the staff of the hospital looked after me very well. I wish Dr. Arjun and his hospital to achieve more success in his life and thank him a lot.”
